Are you interested in gaining leadership experience and assisting students in our on-campus communities? Apply to be a resident assistant (RA) at Marian University.

We seek students who are organized, ethical, flexible, responsible, calm under pressure, helpful, willing to learn, confident, passionate, and who want to create a positive learning environment for their peers. Being an RA can provide you with skills in leadership, conflict resolution and mediation, time management, and creativity.

How to Apply

  • The RA application will be available on November 1, 2017. Visit Knight Work to apply. Upload your resume which will be reviewed by staff at The Exchange. Please allow two business days for your resume to be reviewed. 

New Applicants

  • Attach your resume and answers to essay questions to the KnightWork application. Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty or professional staff member and one from a current or past Housing and Residence Life staff member, are required. The individual writing the recommendation for you should email their letter to housing@marian.edu.
  • Your application and all supporting materials MUST be submitted by noon on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Returning Applicants​

  • Attach your resume and answers to essay questions to the Knight Work application. A digital presentation should also be submitted to your Resident Director.
  • Your application and all supporting materials MUST be submitted by noon on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Interview Process

New Applicants

  • If all requirements are met, you may participate in interviews held January 27, 2018.
  • You will be notified about hiring decisions via email and campus mail on Friday, February 2, 2018.

Returning Applicants

  • You will register for an interview during Mid-Year Resident Assistant Orientation. Interviews will be held January 25-26, 2018.
  • You must prepare a presentation on your past performance as a Resident Assistant and ways in which you can improve in the future.
  • You will be notified about hiring decisions via email and campus mail on Friday, February 2, 2018.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time Marian University student
  • Must be in good academic and social standing at time of application and during employment
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 at time of application and during employment
  • Must have lived on a university/college campus for the period of at least one semester
  • Must attend one Resident Assistant Information Session (new applicants only)
  • Must be available for the Interview Day (new applicants only)
  • Must be available for the entire duration of all training sessions:
    • Resident Assistant Pre-Training (RAP): Sunday, April 15, 2018, 1-7 p.m.
    • Resident Assistant Orientation (RAO): July 27-August 19, 2018
    • Mid-Year RA Orientation (MYRAO): January 2-6, 2019

Timeline:

  • November 1: Applications available on Knight Work

  • January 19 at noon: Applications and supporting materials due

  • January 25-26: Returning Resident Assistant Interviews

  • January 27: New Resident Assistant Interview Day

  • February 2: Decision letters will be delivered via email and campus mailboxes

  • February 9: Acceptance or declination of hiring offer due
