Master of Arts in Teaching students can choose from three delivery formats.

Master of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching

Our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program will prepare you for teaching certification and licensure in the State of Indiana.

While having a master's degree is not required for most teachers in most states, earning an MAT or other advanced degree in education will help you establish yourself as a a credible, well-prepared educational expert and leader.

Why choose the MAT?

If you want to work directly with K-12 students in hands-on teaching and learning environments, earning an MAT will strengthen and enhance your instructional and classroom management skills. You'll explore a range of pedagogical concepts and theories, teaching methods, instructional styles, and other essentials that will position you as a master teacher.

Not only will the MAT provide you with new knowledge and insight about the art of teaching, but it may also provide you with career advancement and promotional opportunities that come with a higher salary.

Three delivery formats

Our MAT program is offered in three different formats. Depending on your previous academic background and credentials, career goals, and other factors, our advisors will help you choose the format that's right for you.

  1. Campus-based MAT in partnership with Teach for America and the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows
  2. Online MAT
  3. Master's Bridge to Teaching (MBT)
